Compliance of E-services with the eIDAS Regulation

April 24, 2019 @ 9:30 am - 12:30 pm

The EU Regulation on electronic identification and trust services for electronic transactions in the internal market (eIDAS) constitutes the legal basis for the provision of secure cross-border electronic transactions in the EU Member States. The Regulation eliminates the existing obstacles to the electronic identification of users from abroad and provides with the conditions for mutual recognition of electronic identification means the basis for safer e-commerce within the EU.

As of September 29, 2018, most of the public e-services in Slovenia need to recognize foreign notified electronic identification means, for example, a German identity card. The objective of the workshop was to demonstrate how service providers can achieve recognition of these identification means, what kind of infrastructure has been established for this purpose in Slovenia (SI-PASS service, eIDAS node), the requirements of the eIDAS Regulation regarding the cross-border identification of e-service users, and what are the plans on Slovenian e-identity. The workshop also presented the experiences of public e-service providers already included in the infrastructure.
